The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Chuma-Udeh, has warned schools in the state to be vigilant and not allow fraudulent revenue agents to operate on their premises.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh gave the warning during a meeting with proprietors of private schools in Onitsha South at the Ministry of Education’s Conference Hall, Udorji State Secretariat Complex, Awka.
She emphasized that schools must verify with the Ministry of Education before responding to summons or allowing revenue collection agents access to their premises. According to her, only agents with proper authorization letters from the Ministry should be entertained.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh also clarified that any initiatives approved by the Ministry, whether by individuals or organizations, are pro bono, meaning no school or student should be charged for such visits.
The Commissioner’s warning is aimed at preventing fraudulent activities and ensuring a smooth educational environment in the state. She urged school proprietors to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Ministry.
Reacting to the Commissioner’s address, Hon. Apostle Julius Udekwe, Chairman of the Association of Private Schools of Nigeria (APSON), praised the Soludo administration for creating a conducive environment for private schools in the state.
Other association leaders also lauded Prof. Chuma-Udeh’s dedication and transparency, noting that private schools have never had it this good.
The Ministry of Education has reassured the public of its commitment to protecting schools from fraudulent activities and ensuring that the state’s education system remains free from corruption.
