Anambra State Governor’s wife and founder of the non-governmental crusade, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has launched the healthy living garden programme and weeekly physical exercise in Anaocha Local Government Area.

The launching of the flagship projects took place at the local government headquarters, Neni, with the garden programme expected to give birth to what would be known as farmers’ market, where varieties of crops and vegetables can be purchased at very affordable prices.

The Healthy Living Garden Programme is a medium-scale agro revolution designed by the governor’s wife NGO for local government areas across the state to drive organic garden practices, promote healthy food consumption and also cut down the costs of household crops and vegetables in markets.

The garden programme, just like the weekly exercises, is currently being adopted by different local government areas, and gets major support from Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, with benefiting LGAs responsible for just secondary provisions to drive the initiative in their respective residents.

Speaking in Anaocha local government headquarters, Mrs Soludo explained the two projects’ models and how they could be comprehensively implemented and expressed her belief that the local government will succeed in the outlined plans.

The governor’s wife also educated them on the programme pillars of her campaign, including how could build a better consciousness of their health through the right dietary lifestyles and adoption of routine physical fitness.

She further tasked parents and guardians to adopt a better approach for child-raising by going back to the traditional procedures that made the task of raising a child a community responsibility rather than the sole prerogative of the parents.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, pointed out that the foundational philosophy of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo which is rooted in simple, healthy lifestyle choices, rubs off impressively on what the present administration in Anambra State aims to achieve through quality and affordable health care delivery.

The Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr Romanus Ibekwe, while stating that the council is looking forward to taking advantage of the projects to bring the needed revolution and be among the first local government areas to kick-start the farmers’ market.

He commended the governor’s wife for investing a great deal of vision in the initiative and for championing something that has a direct impact on humanity.

The governor’s wife later visited the council’s healthy living garden, where she performed ceremonial planting of the crops to kick off the project in the area.
