In a new development, Jude Emecheta, an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) aspirant in the Anambra South Senatorial district, has withdrawn from the race and thrown his weight behind Ebuka Onunkwo.

Emecheta announced his withdrawal during a meeting with his supporters, where he also endorsed Onunkwo as his preferred candidate for the APGA ticket.

Explaining his decision, Emecheta said he had carefully assessed all the aspirants vying for the APGA ticket and concluded that Onunkwo was the most qualified candidate.

According to Emecheta, his decision to step down was personal and not influenced by external pressures or financial inducements. He noted that he had the financial resources to pursue his ambition but decided to put the interest of the party and the people first.

With Emecheta’s withdrawal, the contest for the APGA ticket is now between Onunkwo and Chief Akai Egwuonwu.
