The Anambra State Government has inaugurated a caretaker committee to oversee the Fruits and Vegetables Dealers Market in Onitsha, located behind Power Mike in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Speaking during the inauguration, Chief Evarist Uba, Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Markets, charged the committee members to focus on maintaining order, fostering a business-friendly atmosphere, and implementing government policies for economic growth.

Uba emphasized that leadership positions in the market should be held by those actively engaged in business to prevent conflicts and ensure fair representation. He also warned the committee members against playing politics with their positions, urging them to maintain transparency and dedication.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barr. Samuel Ike, advised the committee members to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, integrity, and commitment to improving market operations.

The Chairman of the committee, Paul Okafor, expressed gratitude to the state government and assured traders of an inclusive administration that would address their concerns while aligning with the government’s vision for market development.

The 19-member caretaker committee is tasked with overseeing the affairs of the market and ensuring its smooth operation.
