The Anambra State Government has revived the ancient Igba Boi system through the 1 Youth, 2 Skills initiative, aimed at modernizing the traditional practice of young boys serving their masters in exchange for skills and knowledge.
The initiative, now in its second edition, provides young people with valuable skills and entrepreneurship training. A recent workshop held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center brought together hundreds of youths for training sessions on sustainable enterprise development.
Governor Charles Soludo launched the second phase of the 1 Youth 2 Skills Solution Initiative, aiming to empower the youths with lifelong skills to help them become the best in life.
The programme’s pilot phase was a resounding success, training 5,000 youths in diverse skills and providing them with a 2-billion-naira startup grant .
The initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to promote entrepreneurship and skills development among young people. Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mbah, praised Governor Soludo for investing in the initiative, which is designed to empower young people and promote entrepreneurship and skills.
