The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University branch, has commended Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, for his maturity and civility after being violently assaulted by a female student.
Dr. Okoye was attacked by Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious, a student of the Department of History and International Studies. Despite the provocation, Dr. Okoye exercised restraint and composure, earning him praise from the union.
The union described Dr. Okoye’s actions as a testament to his character and professionalism, bringing honor to himself, the union, and the university community.
ASUU also commended the Acting Vice Chancellor for his swift and decisive action in addressing the incident. The union reiterated its commitment to promoting and defending the rights and interests of its members, while advocating for a safe and conducive academic environment.
Cde Kingsley Ubaoji, Chairperson of ASUU, Nnamdi Azikiwe University branch, commended Dr. Okoye for his exemplary conduct and reassured him of the union’s support and solidarity.
