The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu, and Governor Chukwuma Soludo, have embarked on a facility assessment tour of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Formation in Akwuzu.
This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening security operations and enhancing collaboration between the state government and the police command.
During the tour, CP Orutugu briefed Governor Soludo on the command’s efforts to re-arrest suspects involved in the murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The Commissioner of Police also outlined proactive measures to prevent similar incidents and ensure accountability and transparency in justice dispensation.
As part of these reforms, the RRS unit is undergoing reorganisation, including systematic interviewing of suspects in custody.
This initiative aims to enhance public trust in the criminal justice process and improve the unit’s operational effectiveness in crime prevention and law enforcement.
The reorganisation is designed to adopt a more structured and professional approach to handling suspects, strengthening evidence gathering, facilitating successful prosecutions, and enhancing overall security across the state.
This visit will help reiterate Gov. Soludo’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Anambra residents.
