The Onitsha South Local Government has issued a stern warning against the sabotage of its revenue efforts, following a recent video circulating online that aimed to undermine the local government’s sanitation revenue drive.
In a statement, the Secretary to the Onitsha South Local Government, Mr. Paul Onuachalla (Esq), condemned the video as “ill-motivated” and “poorly scripted”. He emphasized that the local government has established procedures for addressing complaints and urged the video’s creators to submit their concerns through the designated unit instead of resorting to online sabotage.
Onuachalla stressed that the local government is committed to maintaining a clean and healthy environment, citing the transformation of Ochanja Roundabout from a refuse dump to a beautiful site. He attributed this success to the state governor’s intervention and the local government’s efforts.
The Secretary warned that those engaging in practices that sabotage the local government’s revenue drives will face penalties under the Anambra State Local Government Administration Law of 2024. He urged residents, business owners, and union leaders to work together and support the local government’s revenue generation efforts.
Onuachalla emphasized that the local government’s revenue efforts are aimed at providing essential services and infrastructure to the community. He appealed to the public to support the local government’s efforts and report any instances of sabotage or corruption.
The warning comes as the local government intensifies its efforts to boost revenue generation and improve service delivery to the community. The local government has assured residents that it will continue to work tirelessly to address their concerns and provide essential services.
