The Anambra State Government and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have reaffirmed their commitment to curbing examination malpractice across the state.
This was the focus of discussion during a recent familiarization visit by the new WAEC Branch Controller for Awka, Mr. Ahubaraezeama U.I., to the Ministry of Education in Awka. He was accompanied by Mr. Fadelan Olanrewaju, Head of Exams for WAEC in Awka, and was received by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma Udeh, and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu.
During the meeting, Commissioner Udeh reiterated the state’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice and promised continued action against so-called “miracle centers.” She further assured that schools found to be non-compliant with examination standards would be reported to WAEC for appropriate sanctions.
In response, Mr. Ahubaraezeama pledged WAEC’s readiness to work in close collaboration with the state government to ensure a credible and transparent examination process. He expressed confidence that the partnership would address loopholes and reinforce academic integrity across schools in Anambra.
