The Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja was filled with excitement as the Anambra State Towns’ People Association (ASTPA) hosted the 2025 Anambra Day Celebration, a colourful event that showcased the state’s rich cultural heritage and unity.The celebration, themed “Onulu Ube Nwanne Agbanaoso” (Don’t hesitate to assist your brother or sister in need), attracted a massive turnout of guests from across the country. It featured traditional dances, masquerade performances, cultural music, and displays of traditional attire that reflected the cultural diversity of Anambra State.Among the dignitaries present were Senator Ben Obi (Ojeligbo), Chairman of the 2025 Anambra Day Celebration; Chief Simon Okeke (Ochendo), former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, who served as the Father of the Day; and Chief (Mrs.) Chris Uba, who was honoured as the Mother of the Day.In his remarks, Senator Obi emphasised the importance of unity and cooperation among Anambra people, urging them to uphold the spirit of brotherhood symbolised by the event’s theme. He stressed that peace, love, and togetherness are key to the state’s development and progress.Chief Basil Okafor, the Ichie Dusogu III of Awkuzu, advised young people to be responsible and preserve the state’s values. He also appealed to lawmakers to create policies and budgets that support cultural promotion, noting that culture can serve as a major driver of economic development.The President General of ASTPA, Sir Arinze Anadu, expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in improving security and development in Anambra State. He also called on the government to provide financial support to diaspora-based Anambra associations like ASTPA.The 2025 Anambra Day Celebration was widely described as a success, serving as a platform for Anambra indigenes to reconnect with their roots, promote unity, and celebrate their shared identity.Observers hailed the event as a powerful reminder of the need to preserve and promote Anambra’s cultural heritage while fostering collective growth and social harmony.
