As preparations heighten for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ejimofor Opara, has expressed strong confidence that the party will record a landslide victory at the polls.Opara attributed this optimism to the “remarkable achievements” of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, noting that his administration has transformed key sectors of Anambra’s economy. He added that Soludo’s performance recently received commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the commissioning of landmark projects in the state — achievements he described as a benchmark for development in the South East.According to Opara, APGA’s campaign strategy is centred on grassroots mobilisation and direct voter engagement. “Our target is not just to win in the 21 local government areas but in all 5,720 polling units across the state. On a scale of one to ten, our opponents are still struggling to reach one, while Governor Soludo is already on a perfect ten,” he said confidently. He dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s criticism regarding the N50 million signage fee as baseless, explaining that the Anambra State Advertising and Signage Agency was lawfully established to regulate outdoor advertising and ensure compliance with public standards. “If the APC has issues with the stipulated amount, they should engage the agency instead of crying foul,” he added.Responding to the APC’s claim of potential victory in the election, Opara described the party as “a toothless bulldog,” arguing that its candidate lacks the backing of both the national leadership and President Tinubu. “If they claim to exist, let them show their ward, local government, and state structures,” he said.Addressing allegations that donations to Soludo’s campaign were sourced from local government funds, Opara maintained that there is no evidence to support such claims. “Has any local government said their allocations were withheld? Those donating to the governor are genuine supporters. If the APC believes otherwise, they should petition the EFCC — he who alleges must prove,” he stated.Opara further described Soludo as “the consensus candidate of the people of Anambra,” enjoying broad-based support beyond party lines.Commenting on the controversy surrounding the APC candidate’s qualifications, Opara insisted that eligibility issues must be taken seriously. “If your certificate is authentic, why call it a distraction? Anyone whose qualification is questionable should step aside. The integrity of the electoral process must be protected,” he concluded.
