The new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, has called for collective responsibility in ensuring safer roads, stressing that road safety requires partnership, discipline, and commitment from all stakeholders.Asekhauno made the call in Awka when the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid her a courtesy visit, which coincided with the FRSC’s SERVICOM Week — a collaboration between the Corps and the public.She commended the NUJ for its consistent support in promoting road safety awareness through extensive media coverage, describing the partnership as invaluable.
The Sector Commander urged journalists to continue offering constructive feedback to help the Corps improve service delivery, noting that their role in educating the public on safety issues remains immeasurable.Asekhauno assured that under her leadership, the FRSC in Anambra will intensify efforts to reduce road crashes and improve traffic discipline, adding that her officers are open to advice and training opportunities that enhance efficiency.In his remarks, the NUJ Chairman, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, commended the new Sector Commander’s leadership style and pledged continued media collaboration with the Corps in promoting a safer road culture.He also called for joint capacity-building initiatives between journalists and FRSC officers.Asekhauno, who recently assumed duty as the 16th FRSC Sector Commander in Anambra State, holds degrees in Economics and Transport Management and has served in various FRSC commands across Nigeria for nearly three decades.
