The Anambra State Government has announced plans to recruit additional teachers into the state’s education system ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election.Governor Chukwuma Soludo made the announcement at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, during the 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebration, noting that the recruitment would complement the 8,115 teachers already engaged by his administration.According to the governor, recent education statistics show that Anambra is performing excellently due to the commitment of its teachers. He emphasised that the future of any society depends on the quality of its teachers and the standard of teaching.
Soludo expressed satisfaction with the remarkable turnaround in public education since he assumed office, saying that public school enrolment has surged significantly, unlike in the past when the sector was neglected.Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, pledged to continue promoting the governor’s educational reforms, while the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mrs Chika Chukwugozie, said the annual celebration provides an opportunity to appreciate teachers’ contributions to national development.Also speaking, Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, and Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) highlighted the progress achieved in the education sector under the Soludo administration, assuring continued collaboration with the government.Governor Soludo was presented with a cheque of ₦3.13 million during the event, which had the theme, “Together for Teachers, Together for Tomorrow.”
