The Ebonyi community residing in Onitsha South Local Government Area and across Anambra State has pledged massive support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the forthcoming November 8 governorship election, citing his transformative programmes and inclusive leadership style.Speaking at a political rally held at Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha, the President General of the Ebonyi Town Union Association in Anambra State, Ambassador Moses Igwe, commended Governor Soludo’s administration for its development-oriented governance that has positively impacted both indigenes and non-indigenes.Igwe noted that the Ebonyi community constitutes a significant portion of Anambra’s population, stressing that Onitsha South alone could deliver over 3,000 votes for Soludo, in addition to thousands more from other parts of the state. He described Soludo’s administration as inclusive and free from discrimination, acknowledging that many Ebonyi residents in Anambra have benefited from the governor’s free antenatal care, child delivery, and education programmes, as well as improved infrastructure across the state.According to him, “The shops built by Professor Soludo’s administration at Ekwulobia were allocated to beneficiaries free of charge. What he has done in Anambra is beyond our expectations. We will ensure he is re-elected for even greater development.”Igwe also commended the governor for appointing an Ebonyi indigene, Mr Monday Nwokoye, as the Director General of the Anti-Tout Agency, describing the gesture as proof of Soludo’s non-discriminatory governance. He added that the Ebonyi community regards Soludo as one of their own, recalling that the governor was born and raised in Nkalagu, Ebonyi State. He further urged the governor to pay a working visit to Nkalagu as a symbolic gesture of unity. Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Ebonyi State Community in Onitsha South, Mr Emeka Endurance, described Soludo as a youth-friendly leader whose “One Youth, Two Skills” programme has empowered thousands of young people and created sustainable livelihoods. He noted that the governor’s decision to sponsor 8,300 beneficiaries of the empowerment initiative to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Business School was a strategic move to build capacity among young entrepreneurs and equip them to thrive in a challenging economy.Endurance stated that the Ebonyi community, which makes up about 30 percent of Anambra’s population, is determined to contribute positively to the state’s progress by ensuring Soludo’s re-election.He highlighted the governor’s achievements, including the construction of 16 roads in Fegge, urban renewal projects, and the transformation of former refuse dumps into clean, aesthetic public spaces.“Governor Soludo has etched his name in gold through his visionary leadership and the number of infrastructural projects executed across the state. We will continue to support him until the good works are completed,” he said.
