The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially issued a notice for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.The State Public Relations Officer of INEC, Mrs Ugomma Lechukwu, announced this on Sunday in Awka while briefing journalists on the commission’s readiness for the poll.According to her, the notice of poll complies with relevant sections of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), which mandate INEC to formally declare the election date and voting arrangements ahead of the exercise.“Notice is hereby given that election to the office of the governorship shall be held on November 8, 2025,” Lechukwu stated, adding that voting will commence at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.She explained that only registered voters whose names appear on the voters’ register and who possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be eligible to cast their ballots at their respective polling units.Reports indicate that no fewer than sixteen candidates will contest in the election, comprising fourteen men and two women.The issuance of the notice marks the formal commencement of the electoral timetable for the Anambra governorship race, which has continued to attract intense political attention across the state.
