The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, on Saturday led more than 10,000 residents in a statewide “Healthy Living Walk” aimed at promoting physical fitness, healthy eating, and disease prevention.The walk, which commenced at Aroma Junction in Awka, featured participation from government officials, health workers, students, and residents who trekked through major streets of the state capital and adjoining communities.Dr. Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, described physical activity and balanced nutrition as essential preventive measures against cardiovascular and lifestyle-related diseases.Speaking after the exercise, she expressed satisfaction with the growing awareness of fitness among residents, noting that communities across the state now recognise exercise as a form of medicine for healing and well-being.“Part of our efforts at Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo is to promote physically fit, safe, healthy, and secure communities across Anambra State,” she said. “Every morning, we engage in walks across the local government areas, and I’m excited that many communities have now adopted this practice. Health remains our greatest wealth.”She added that the initiative, held simultaneously in all 21 local government areas, has inspired many to embrace simple habits such as walking, stretching, and healthy eating.“Physical activity helps prevent hypertension, diabetes, and obesity. A healthy body is the foundation of a productive life, and we must make consistent physical activity and good nutrition part of our daily routine,” she stated.The event also featured aerobics sessions, jogging, and wellness talks conducted by health professionals, reinforcing the First Lady’s commitment to promoting fitness, nutrition, hygiene, and mental health among Anambra residents.
