The Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) has defended its 2025 operations before the Anambra State House of Assembly, while announcing major road intervention plans scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026.The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Engr. Obinna Nduka, disclosed this during a bilateral session with lawmakers in Awka, where he presented the agency’s performance report for the year under review.Engr. Nduka said ARMA recorded over 50 per cent performance in its 2025 operations, describing the outcome as a reflection of the state government’s commitment to sustaining road infrastructure across Anambra.According to him, the agency managed road maintenance and rehabilitation projects valued at approximately ₦2.1 billion in 2025, noting that ARMA intervened on roads across all parts of the state.He attributed the agency’s achievements to the infrastructural vision of the present administration, adding that Governor Chukwuma Soludo had also directed local government authorities to take responsibility for maintaining internal roads within their respective areas.Looking ahead, the ARMA boss announced that the agency would commence work on a strategically important road in early 2026. He said the project would be constructed to high engineering standards and designed to last over 20 years.Engr. Nduka urged residents to support government efforts by observing basic road maintenance practices, including avoiding tyre burning on road surfaces, preventing drainage blockages through proper waste disposal, and refraining from channeling wastewater onto roads.He commended Anambra residents for their cooperation and appreciation of quality infrastructure, stressing that the durability of the state’s road network depends on collective responsibility.
