The Anambra State House of Assembly has resumed plenary for the 2026 legislative year, with the Speaker, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, urging lawmakers to remain committed to people-oriented legislation and effective oversight.Speaking at the first sitting of the year, Right Honourable Udeze charged members to approach the new session with renewed dedication, unity of purpose and a strong sense of responsibility to Ndi Anambra, noting that public expectations of their elected representatives remain high.The Speaker commended members for maintaining close contact with their constituents during the legislative recess, describing constituency engagement as a vital link between government and the grassroots. He said such interactions help lawmakers better understand the needs of the people and guide the Assembly in making laws and resolutions that reflect public interest.He assured that in 2026, the House would prioritise bills and motions that promote security, economic growth, infrastructural development and social welfare, while also strengthening collaboration with the executive arm of government for the overall development of Anambra State.
