Anambra West Local Government Area has taken delivery of two 500KVA electricity transformers donated by the Anambra State Government to Iyiora and Umueze Anam communities to improve power supply and boost socio-economic activities.The transformers were officially received on January 10, 2026, on behalf of the council by the Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor, who expressed appreciation to the state government for its continued support for grassroots development.Hon. Nnazor, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Mrs. Nkeiru Ndive, said the intervention would address long-standing challenges of inadequate electricity supply in the affected communities, enhance small-scale businesses and improve the overall quality of life of residents.She commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for prioritising infrastructure development across the state, particularly in rural areas, noting that access to stable electricity remains a key driver of economic growth and improved security.Mrs Ndive described the provision of the transformers as a major boost to Iyiora and Umueze Anam, adding that improved power supply would enhance economic activities and strengthen social services such as education and healthcare.She assured residents that necessary steps would be taken to ensure the prompt installation and proper utilisation of the transformers, while also urging community members to safeguard the facilities against vandalism.According to her, the transformers are expected to energise small and medium-scale businesses, support artisans, boost agro-processing activities and improve living standards in the two communities.She added that the intervention further reinforces public confidence in government programmes and reflects the state’s commitment to sustainable growth and shared prosperity.The donation forms part of the Anambra State Government’s broader effort to strengthen electricity infrastructure and promote sustainable development across all local government areas.
