AGovernor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of three Anambra indigenes who lost their lives in a fire incident at the Great Nigeria Insurance House on Martins Street, Lagos Island.The tragic incident, which occurred on December 24, 2025, claimed the lives of three brothers from Anambra State.In a condolence message signed by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo commiserated with the families affected by the inferno and described the incident as a devastating tragedy that turned what should have been a joyous Christmas Eve into a moment of profound grief.The governor expressed particular sadness over the death of the three brothers identified as Mr. Steve Onyeka Omatu (40), Mr. Casmir Nnabuike Omatu (39), and Mr. Collins Kenechukwu Omatu (37), all from the Omatu family of Uzoakwa Community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.According to Soludo, the deceased were industrious young men who were striving to earn an honest living for their families before their untimely deaths.He described their passing as not only a painful loss to their immediate family but also a collective loss to Anambra State.The governor commended the prompt response of the Lagos State Emergency Magement Agency, the Lagos State Fire Service, and other emergency responders who worked to rescue victims and contain the fire.He also advised Anambra indigenes living in Lagos and other parts of the country to always prioritise human life and personal safety over property in the event of fire outbreaks.Governor Soludo prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and asked God to grant the bereaved families the strength to bear their losses.He further called on relevant authorities to carry out a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire and ensure that necessary measures are put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
