The Police Service Commission has announced the replacement of Obong Nnache Itam as the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State. CP Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, formerly of the Bayelsa State Police Command, will take over the position.
According to Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at the Police Service Commission, the decision was made due to the state’s security challenges. The Commission has instructed the new Commissioner to settle down quickly and ensure a seamless transition.
DIG Hashimu Argungu, Chairman of the Commission, has charged the new Commissioner to be dedicated and work towards restoring normalcy in the state. The decision has been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for implementation.
The change in leadership is part of the Commission’s efforts to address the security situation in Anambra State.
