Awka, Anambra State – The Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko, has inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the failed portion of the Iyiagu flood channel in Awka, Anambra State.

The reconstruction project is aimed at restoring the damaged drainage system and improving water flow, which will also support the Fun City project currently under construction.

Addressing journalists at the site, Mr. Onuko reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to mitigating the impact of flooding through strategic rehabilitation and reconstruction of drainage infrastructure.

He explained that the project aligns with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) model, which ensures sustainable urban development.

Residents have welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the improved drainage system will protect them from future floods.

The reconstruction of the Iyiagu flood channel is a significant step towards addressing the issue of flooding in Awka, which has been a major concern for residents and the state government.
