Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has launched a joint security operation to ensure security dominance and anti-sit-at-home patrols across the state. The operation, which began today, February 17, 2025, involves a team of security agencies, including the Military, Nigerian Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), DSS, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and others.
CP Orutugu urged police operatives and key security stakeholders to work together to ensure continuous security dominance, anti-crime, and sit-at-home patrols in the state. He assured residents of improved and unified responses to security challenges and promoted public safety.
The commissioner called for collective efforts from Ndi Anambra to condemn any acts that threaten national peace and resolve to work together. The security patrol is currently ongoing in several areas, including Ogidi, Obosi, Ihiala, Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Oba, and others.
This development comes as CP Orutugu assumes office as the 35th Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, succeeding CP Nnaghe Obono Itam. CP Orutugu has pledged to implement proactive policing strategies and community policing to ensure a safer Anambra State.
