The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has marked the 2025 International Civil Defence Day with fanfare, celebrating the Corps’ achievements and reiterating its commitment to protecting lives and property.
The celebration, which took place at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka, was attended by senior officers, personnel, and stakeholders. The event featured special prayers, lectures, health talks, and a display of Tactical Simulations Operations.
In his address, the NSCDC State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, commended the Corps’ role in protecting critical national assets, handling civil unrest, and monitoring federal and state government facilities. He also expressed gratitude to the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and the Executive Governor of Anambra State for their operational support.
The Deputy Commandant, Prominence Ukaobi praised Commandant Maku’s achievements, noting that he has transformed the security landscape, introduced innovative initiatives, and repositioned the NSCDC as a formidable force in maintaining law and order. Commandant Maku has also made significant strides in infrastructure development, operational efficiency, training and manpower development, and protection of critical assets.
The celebration was a testament to the NSCDC’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to serving the people of Anambra State. As the Corps continues to evolve and adapt to emerging security challenges, its personnel remain steadfast in their resolve to protect and serve.
