The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered roadside traders to vacate the premises of the newly constructed Ekwulọbịa Flyover. This directive is aimed at enhancing urban development and ensuring public safety in the area.
The governor’s decision is part of efforts to maintain the vibrant urban landscape and prevent unregulated trading activities that pose safety risks and undermine the project’s integrity.
During a visit to the area, Governor Soludo announced the ultimatum, instructing traders to relocate to an alternative marketplace provided by the state government along the same road. Interested traders are required to register free of charge at the Aguata Local Government Area headquarters.
The move seeks to address concerns over traffic congestion, safety hazards, and the overall appearance of the newly completed structure. Governor Soludo emphasized that while the state government supports local businesses, order and safety must be prioritized.
State officials are working on plans to facilitate the easy relocation of traders to designated markets nearby.
