The Methodist Bishop of the Diocese of Awka, Rt. Rev. Moses Nwakanma, has advised individuals vying for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election who lack concrete plans for development to withdraw from the race.
The Bishop gave the charge during the presentation of his address at the 3rd Annual Diocesan Synod held at Christ Methodist Church, Nkpor, in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
With the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election drawing closer, Bishop Nwakanma commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his focus and commitment to governance, describing him as a leader dedicated to transforming the state.
“I advise all those who do not have anything meaningful to offer this state to rest and support those who have the mandate and vision to move Anambra to an enviable height among the comity of states,” he said.
The Bishop praised the Soludo administration for notable achievements, including the establishment of the “Udo Gachi” local security outfit, extensive road construction across the state, and regular payment of workers’ salaries.
“Having been around the state for some time now, I can say with confidence that the Soludo-led government is doing well,” he added.
He also expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of the Methodist Church in Anambra, noting that the past year had been eventful and marked by spiritual and organizational progress.
“Looking back at how we started, where we are now, and where we are headed, we can boldly say we are excelling in grace,” the Bishop said, appreciating the collective efforts that have brought the Diocese to its current standing.
The Synod continues to serve as a platform for reflection, strategic planning, and spiritual rejuvenation within the Methodist Church in Anambra State.
