The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, has assured staff of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale Up of the state government’s continued support toward the successful implementation of the project in Anambra State.Mrs. Nnake gave the assurance when members of the Anambra State Project Coordinating Unit of the programme paid her a courtesy visit following her recent appointment.
The delegation, led by the State Project Coordinator, Okoye Hope Nkiruka, congratulated the SSG on her appointment, describing it as a well-deserved elevation that would strengthen governance and women-focused development initiatives in the state.She explained that the visit was aimed at identifying with the new SSG and reaffirming the team’s commitment to effective programme delivery, noting that her office would enhance coordination and help the project achieve its objectives.
Okoye also expressed optimism over the extension granted to the programme, stating that it would allow for expanded reach and greater impact. She disclosed that the project has been given a new target of 6,000 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs), alongside expansion into three additional local government areas.Responding, Mrs. Nnake, who also serves as Chairman of the Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Structure of the programme in the state, thanked the delegation for the visit and commended the team’s commitment to women empowerment.
She noted that necessary approvals concerning the programme would be considered while awaiting the appointment of a new Commissioner for the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.Mrs. Nnake further pledged sustained support to ensure the programme fully achieves its objectives.The Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project is designed to institutionalise Women Affinity Groups and create platforms that expand economic opportunities for vulnerable and unbanked women across participating communities.
