The District Governor, Rotary International District 9142, Rtn. Chibuzor Asogwa, has congratulated the Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), Hon. Chiamaka Nnake, on her appointment as the first female SSG in the history of the state.Asogwa gave the commendation on August 17 when he led a delegation of Rotary District 9142 on a courtesy visit to Nnake at the Light House, Awka.He described Nnake’s appointment as a significant milestone for women in Anambra State and an indication of the confidence reposed in her capacity, experience and record of service.According to him, her appointment to the strategic position would enable the state government to benefit from her dedication, commitment, organisational skills and wealth of experience.The Rotary District Governor also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for recognising Nnake’s contributions during her tenure as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and entrusting her with greater responsibility as Secretary to the State Government.Asogwa expressed confidence in Nnake’s ability to succeed in her new assignment, noting that her experience and leadership capacity would enable her to make meaningful contributions to the administration and the development of the state.
He assured the SSG of the goodwill and support of Rotary International, stressing that the organisation remained committed to service to humanity, community development and improving the lives of people.Responding, Nnake thanked the District Governor and members of the delegation for the visit and congratulatory message.She disclosed that she had built several relationships within the Rotary family over the years and had attended numerous Rotary functions at the invitation of members, describing herself as an associate of the Rotary Club.
The SSG acknowledged Rotary International’s contributions to Anambra State, noting that the government appreciated the organisation’s humanitarian activities and interventions in community development.Nnake expressed optimism that the cordial relationship between the state government and Rotary International would continue to grow, stressing that partnerships with organisations committed to improving the wellbeing of citizens remained important to sustainable development.She noted that collaboration between government and development-oriented organisations could create greater opportunities to address community needs and improve the quality of life of Ndi Anambra.Among members of the delegation was the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the SSG, Dr. Nwabufor Nwankwo, a former Rotary District Governor in Awka.The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their shared commitment to service, community development, humanitarian intervention and the wellbeing of the people of Anambra State.
