The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has visited Master Chiziterem, the 10-year-old boy allegedly abused by his guardian in Awada, Obosi, assuring him of continued care and support until his full recovery.Dr. Soludo had earlier intervened in the case after reports emerged that the boy was allegedly starved and subjected to severe abuse by his guardian, Mrs. Chisom Chukwunyere, and her husband.Following the intervention, the governor’s wife facilitated the boy’s rescue, ordered the prosecution of those involved, and ensured his transfer to a better medical facility for treatment and rehabilitation.
During her latest visit, Dr. Soludo expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the boy’s recovery, noting that he appeared stronger and healthier than when she first met him.“I am delighted to see that he is making remarkable progress and is much stronger than when I last visited. I paid another visit to young Chiziterem today to monitor his recovery and offer his family encouragement,” she said. She reiterated her commitment to ensuring the child’s wellbeing and emphasised the need for society to speak out against all forms of child abuse and neglect.According to her, every child deserves protection, safety, and the opportunity to thrive in a supportive environment.Dr. Soludo further assured that she would continue to monitor the boy’s condition and ensure he receives the necessary care and support until he is fully recovered and reunited with his family.
She attributed his steady recovery to the dedication of the medical team handling his treatment, as well as the support, prayers, and goodwill shown by members of the public. The governor’s wife also used the opportunity to remind residents of the state’s emergency reporting channels for cases involving child abuse and other emergencies. She urged members of the public to report incidents of child maltreatment through the toll-free emergency lines 112 and 5111.Dr. Soludo recently announced university sponsorship for another child who was rescued from an abusive environment, reaffirming her advocacy for child protection and welfare across Anambra State.
