For many years, inadequate infrastructure slowed Anambra State’s economic and social development. Poor road networks, flooding, erosion, traffic congestion, and limited access to rural communities disrupted commercial activities, hindered movement, and affected the quality of life of residents.Since assuming office in 2022, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has made infrastructure development a central priority of his administration, with the aim of improving connectivity, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing living standards across the state.Several key road projects have been completed to improve access between communities. The Isuaniocha–Urum–Amanuke–Achalla Road has opened up communities in Awka North, while the Amansea–Ndiukwuenu–Awka–Ufuma Road has strengthened transport links in Orumba North, making it easier for farmers, traders, commuters, and businesses to move people and goods.
The completion of the Nza–Ozubulu–Ukpor Road has also brought relief to residents after years of poor road conditions. Across major urban centres, including Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, Ekwulobia, Ogbaru, and several rural communities, improved road infrastructure has enhanced access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial centres.The Trans-Nkisi Boulevard has helped reduce traffic congestion in Onitsha, while ongoing urban renewal projects continue to reshape many communities. In Awka, the new Government House complex and Solution Fun City have added to the city’s administrative and recreational infrastructure.Communities such as Okpoko in Ogbaru have also benefited from road construction and upgraded public facilities, contributing to improved living conditions and increased public confidence.
These infrastructure investments have helped reduce travel time, lower transportation costs, encourage business activities, attract investment, and improve access to essential public services.Although work continues on several ongoing projects across the state, the administration’s infrastructure programme has significantly transformed Anambra’s physical landscape and created new opportunities for economic development and community integration.For many Ndi Anambra, improved road networks, easier access to essential services, shorter travel times, and expanding economic opportunities are visible signs of the impact of continued investment in infrastructure and the state’s long-term development.
