The Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Arc. Henry Arize, has called for more inclusive and sustainable community-based initiatives aimed at empowering young people and accelerating grassroots development across the state.Arc. Arize made the call during a courtesy visit by members of Nibo Youths to his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.Welcoming the delegation, the commissioner described the visit as a demonstration of unity, commitment and collective responsibility towards the advancement of the Nibo community. He noted that his passion for community development predates his appointment into public office and remains a key aspect of his service to society.He encouraged the youth organisation to establish a cooperative society and develop a comprehensive database of Nibo youths, explaining that such initiatives would help identify talents, skills and areas of expertise among young people while strengthening collaboration and planning for development programmes.According to him, a structured youth database would also provide a platform for effective engagement and implementation of empowerment initiatives tailored to the needs of young people in the community.
The commissioner further emphasised the importance of maintaining a robust community security structure, noting that peace, safety and adherence to the rule of law are essential prerequisites for sustainable development and economic growth.Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Obinna Agunma, congratulated Arc. Arize on his appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition and a source of pride for the people of Nibo.Comrade Agunma highlighted some of the group’s ongoing and proposed projects, including the establishment of a Skills Acquisition Centre and plans to develop an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre aimed at equipping young people with relevant vocational and digital skills.He reaffirmed the commitment of the youth body to implementing programmes that promote personal development, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment within the community.The visit featured the presentation of an award to Arc. Arize in recognition of his contributions to community development and his continued support for youth-focused initiatives in Nibo and beyond.
